The Mill benefits from its geografical location in the city of Cherepovets, which is the junction point of three economic regions: Northern Europe, North-West and Central Russia. Core products made by the company – are rebar,wire rod, rounds, angle bars, channels, hexagons, ship steel, construction still for bridges, buildings and facilities, pressure vessel still, non-grain oriented still, hot dip galvanized still, color coated still, automotive body sheet, formed sections, two-ply clad steel, skelp. Company's customers include more than 40 thousand Russian and international companies operating across key industries including construction, automotive , fuel and energy, engineering, shipbuilding and other industries. The company has actively engaged in expanding still product range and has strict requirements to quality assurance which is testified by both international (ABS, Bureau Veritas, Det NorskeVeritas, Germanischer Lloyd's, Lloyd's Register),and Russian (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register, GOST R) certificates. In 2012-2013 CherMK developed 54 types of new products for industries which are strategically important for Russian economy. The largest number of new products has been mastered for the fuel and energy complex. Quality policy is the basis for functioning and improvement OJSC «Severstal», Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of the international standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS 16949:2009. The company was the first steel producer whose environmental management system complied with the leading international standard ISO 14001. In February 2012 «Severstal» was pronounced the winner of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE)contest «Best Russian Companies. «Dynamics, efficiency, responsibility – 2011» 2011” in the category “Social responsibility”: “For environmentally responsible business”. Cherepovets Steel Mill pays great attention to social issues: housing, medicine, leisure, sport and culture. In 2010 the company launched “Welfare Standard” project, which is being successfully implemented at present and involves implementation of programs aimed at health promotion, disease prevention, improvement of working conditions and leisure time for employees. For this purpose the company has been investing in sport promotion and improvement of armamentarium for medical treatment facilities, as well as health resorts and recreation centers. The Company has Collective Bargaining Agreement, which offers a wide range of social benefits and safety nets for the employees and allows implementing the principle of making better conditions for work and development of the company staff.
